"The care of the earth is our most ancient and most worthy and, after all, our most pleasing responsibility. To cherish what remains of it, and to foster its renewal, is our only legitimate hope." - Wendell Berry

Community

Western Landowners Alliance is founded on a shared community of interest and practice committed to achieving healthy and connected landscapes sustained fish and wildlife populations and long-term economic vitality. We provide a forum in which landowners and managers can share best practices and learned lessons from their efforts to improve land management, whether it concerns fire, timber, grazing, energy, predators, insects, invasive weeds, wildlife,or water resources. We promote each other’s successful land management models, tools and funding opportunities, and provide organized representation of our shared values.

“Conservation is getting nowhere because it is incompatible with our Abrahamic concept of land. We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong,we may begin to use it with love and respect.”

-Aldo Leopold
